2020-01-01New Years DayRev. Msgr. Michael J. Motta, D.Min.

Every year seems to go by quicker. More memories, more things to do, more problems. There is not enough time. Why does it seem that there is never enough time in a day?

I do not know about you but when things are hectic in my life, it seems that prayer is the first thing to go because there is not enough time. Someone that I admire once told me that prayer was a waste of time. It is a waste of time from a productive point of view. But then again all of the precious and memorable times in my life have been, from a strictly practical point of view, a waste of time. Birthday and anniversary celebrations, and holidays with the family. These moments were all relational. And it is when I am in a relationship with people that I love, that I find God. Because as Saint John says in the Bible that God is love.

Let me suggest some resolutions for the New Year. Make time for the people in your life that you love. Be prepared to waste time with them as it were. Make time for God. Be prepared to waste time with God in prayer. Do not worry about things that have happened in the past and do not worry about what might happen in the future.

Live each moment, each day, as it comes.
