COMMITTEE REPORTS:

1. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION (K-8) Deacon Tom Sutak

The enrollment for religious education is expected to be approximately 856 students for the coming year and is expected to continue to be large in the future. Tuition payments for religious education are lagging for last year's tuition. Parents or guardians must notify the parish of hardship to wave the fee.

2. CONFIRMATION Deacon Tom Sutak

Confirmation class is also expected to be at or above the 85 student cap that the program can handle. The nominal fee that the parish charges is approximately half of the charge of other parishes. It was suggested that we consider increasing the charge.

3. LITURGY Brian Beisel

The Liturgy committee last met in May. It is reported that there is currently a sufficient number of ushers, lectors and servers for the Sunday masses. There is a full complement of Eucharistic ministers, but they may recruit one more from the Legion of Mary It is their goal to have six people give communion per mass on Sunday. The diocese requires training for signs of abuse among infirmed/elderly. In response, they plan to have a seminar and to do background checks.

The large number of attendees at Confirmation presented problems that the committee would address for next year. Possible changes include two classes and a more simple reception.

Approval has been given for the purchase of new hymnals. They are expected to be ordered shortly.

This committee would like to have an annual meeting for lectors to hear about concerns and areas in need of improvement, and to target assistance for lectors in need of training.

At their last meeting, the group discussed the parish website and the need to provide Ed O'Reilly with updated Parish Council minutes. The council noted this concern and will remedy it.

4. FAITH FORMATION Deacon Mike Sponzo

The seven members of this committee will meet regularly. In an effort to expand awareness of this committee as well as to further its goals, they plan to contact each activity or group in the parish to find out what they can do to relate to those committees.

5. SMALL CHURCH CORE GROUP Fr. John Golas

This group will have a social gathering on June 20th which will be announced in the bulletin.

On June 25th, the team will meet with staff to share their plans for the future of the group. They hope to increase the number in the group and share their vision to combine life and faith.

6. FUN COMMITTEE Rick Daddario

Alan Norris, a present member of the committee, has agreed to chair the committee for the coming year. Some activities which the group will coordinate for the parish will include: the Parish Picnic, Sept. 9, 2007, Children's Ornament Workshop, and Photography Contest. Volunteer membership to the committee is open at all times.

The Parish Council thanks Rick Daddario for his work as head of this committee.

7. MUSIC Rick Daddario

The Adult Choir and "Two or More'' (Adult Christian contemporary music group) will resume their performances in September.

"Angel Voices" children's choir sang its final mass on May 13th. Since Donna LeBlanc has relinquished her role as director of the group, Rick Daddario will explore opportunities to engage and incorporate the children in our weekend liturgies.

The purchase of 600 hymnals has been approved by the Finance Committee. Rick Daddario will periodically host "Song Night" to allow parishioners to review/learn new selections from the hymnal.

OLD BUSINESS

1. ACOUSTICS (Gathering Space):

The council was presented with a revised acoustical report submitted by Richard Kaiser dated May 31, 2007. This report includes a graph of measured reverberation times currently, using 2500sq. ft. of 2" thick panel, and using 3500sq. ft. of 2" thick panel. It was stated in the report that 3500 sq. ft. of 2" thick panel was required to bring all measured reverberation times into a generally acceptable range. The Parish Council will consider this proposal for remediation of the issue but will research other options and reconsider this issue in the future.
