| John Golas Pastor  Father John Golas was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Hartford by Archbishop John F. Whealon in September 1981. He served as parochial vicar at St. Matthew, Forestville, 1981-1987, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Waterbury 1987-1988, St. Jerome Church, New Britain 1987 - 1991, Co-Pastor with Father Arthur Audet at the Church of the Assumption, Manchester 1991-1996. Named Pastor of Church of the Assumption 1996-2000. He was assigned to St. Mary Star of the Sea on October 30, 2000. He is a member of the Knight of Columbus and has been involved in the Legion of Mary and Prison Ministry. |
| Mathew Kappalumakkel Parochial Vicar Father Mathew Kappalumakkel was ordained a Priest for the Archdiocese of Hartford on September 23rd 1989 by the then Archbishop John F. Whealon. Father Mathew is a native of India, from the predominantly catholic state of Kerala. The language of this province is Malayalam which has 56 alphabets. He studied at St. Joseph Pontifical Institute of Alwaye, kerala and earned his B. A. in Philosophy(Bph), before coming to the United States. Later he studied at Holy Apostle College and Seminary, Cromwell, CT and earned his MA and M.div respectively in Moral Theology and Scripture. Father Mathew has taught at Marianapolis Prep. School in Thompson, Ct., and served as Parochial vicars to Sts. Peter and Paul, Waterbury, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Waterbury, Our lady of Victory, West haven, St. Gregory parish, Bristol, Holy Infant Parish, Orange, and Priest in residence at St. Gabriel, Milford, prior to his coming to Unionville. Father Mathew is appointed parochial vicar to serve St. Mary’s Church Unionville, by Archbishop Henry J. Mansell on October 30, 2006. fr. Mathew’s hobbies are playing Tennis, Volleyball or Shuttle badminton. Please call him up if you need a partner. |
| Michael Sponzo Deacon Deacon Mike was ordained on June 11, 1994 and was previously at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Norfolk, Ct. Currently he lives in Avon on Cottonwood Drive with his wife Marion. He is a staff member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, member of the Parish Council, Coordinator of the Parish RCIA Team, and a member of the Adult Education Committee. |
| Thomas Sutak Deacon Deacon Tom was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate on June 23, 2001. St. Mary Star of the Sea is his home parish and first diaconal assignment. As a full time member of the pastoral team, Deacon Tom is the Coordinator of the Religious Education and pre-Baptism programs and an ex-officio member of the Parish Council Deacon Tom resides in Burlington with his wife Paula. |
| Rick Daddario Organist/Choir Director Rick is a resident of Plainville who came to Saint Mary's from The Church of Sacred Heart in East Berlin where he served for 4 years. Prior, Rick served for 30 years Music Director at the Church of Saint Jerome in New Britain. He is an accomplished pianist and often performs at many events and engagements throughout Connecticut. Rick’s fulltime employment career is in Hospital Administration as manager of Physician and Clinical Outreach for the University of Connecticut (UConn) Health Center, Farmington. He is a proud and single dad having genuinely raised four respectable and successful children, Jeffrey and Jonathan (twin sons, 26), Danielle, 22 and Kathryn, 17.
